GREENGREEN GREENGREEN

We regard it as our responsibility to engage in climate- and resource-friendly production practices, to set an example for our clients and partners by our own adherence to a policy of sustainable production, or “green shooting.” Because the path to that end is long and costly and easily sidestepped out of laziness, we will share with you our objectives (including those that take the form of an internal kick in the behind) as a perpetually updated to-do list. If you’d like to know more, let us know: hallo@vondorsch.de.

An objective gets a check mark only when it has been achieved 100%.

STUDIO & OFFICE

ACCOUNTING, WORKFLOW & CONSUMABLES

✓ Our studio is equipped with energy-saving LED technology, and we use modern and energy-efficient technology whenever possible for all of our productions.

✓ Our studio runs on green electricity.

✓ We use a paperless, digital accounting system.

✓ We have promotional items produced under fair production conditions by local suppliers.

✓ We use a digital workflow.

✓ We systematically reduce our consumption of resources such as electricity, water, heat, paper and fuel.

✓ We rent and rent out rather than buying new – but will readily purchase used equipment as needed.

✓ We separate waste and recycle.

✓ We print things out only when necessary and use recycling paper in our office.

✓ Props and costumes are recycled and reused.

✘ The studio’s sound insulation is made from organic hemp fibers.

Catering

WHETHER IT BE ON OFFICE DAYS OR FILMING DAYS, WHAT IS GOOD FOR THE EARTH IS GOOD FOR US.

✓ During our production activities we offer fairly traded, vegetarian/vegan catering along with regional and seasonal products as available. We expressly call upon studio renters to follow our example.

✓ We drink tap water in the studio and office.

✓ We drink only fairly traded organic coffee.

✓ In place of dairy products, we serve organic oat milk in glass bottles from Momo Naturbutik.

✓ Whenever possible, we use reusable bottles and dishes.

✓ We use up all our food, separate waste and avoid waste altogether when we can.

Mobility

FROM A TO B, FOR YOU AND ME.

When buying company vehicles, we exclude new internal combustion vehicles. Since battery production for electric vehicles likewise constitutes a serious insult to the environment, this type of electric drive is also out of the question. So we are saving up for a fuel cell vehicle. In the meantime, we’re driving used internal combustion vehicles so as not to provoke any production emissions for new internal combustion vehicles. Also on our list:

✓ We travel by bicycle within the city to the extent that our daily routines allow us to do so.

✘ We always stay in hotels that have their own sustainability certificates or environmental policies.

✘ We transport our team and materials in an emission-friendly and effective manner.

✓ We travel within Germany by train (unless we have too much equipment to transport).

(✓) We make up for unavoidable flights with a climate protection certificate (the "Dorsch" has not taken any flights yet).

✓ We use public transportation when we can, car sharing, and environmentally friendly vehicle types when traveling by taxi.

IT

HOW DID THEY SAY IT IN THE 90S? BITS & BITES.

✓ Hardware is switched off when not in use.

✘ Central server room for controlled ventilation (cold/warm hosting) and avoidance of electrosmog.

✘ 28°C (82.4°F) server operating temperature -> reduced energy consumption for cooling.

✘ No stand-alone PCs or other fan-operated devices in the offices or studios.

✘ Mostly self-hosting instead of cloud hosting.

✓ Sustainable web hosting. Our website is hosted by visuellverstehen in Flensburg, a common good economy-certified advertising agency.

✓ Use of rechargeable instead of regular batteries.

We work and communicate with our partners and clients fairly, on a basis of trust, with respect, and in a professional manner.  We expect you to treat your employees fairly and to exemplify and maintain an open-minded, anti-sexist and anti-racist attitude in your dealings within your establishment. We give preference to regional service providers with a transparent supply chain. Depending on the size of the production, we may engage green managers or appoint a responsible team member for the purpose of selecting and implementing appropriate measures from our sustainability guide. We are committed to the economy for the common good and in that spirit have co-founded the “new economy” in Flensburg. We are working towards obtaining common good economy certification.
